Distribution on the Gaza front
During the July / August 2014 Gaza War (Protective Edge), word got out that soldiers in staging areas close to the border would appreciate some home prepared food.
Yesh l’cha chaver volunteers took it upon themselves to prepare 300 plus baguettes and rolls for the soldiers and reserves.
A week into the war, two members drove down to one of the staging areas and distributed the sandwiches. One of the commanders with whom we had coordinated the visit took one hundred made up tuna rolls for his unit, together with cartons of cookies.
The remaining 200 rolls were placed in a communal eating tent. Within ten minutes the only sign of our delivery were empty wrappers.
This spontaneous distribution operation took place with the generous help of Ichlu Reim soup kitchen and Shifon bakery (Old Katamon).
